Applications are invited for Casual Recreation Workers for a variety of programs in the Recreation, Culture & Community Services Department at Langley City.  We are looking for enthusiastic recreation workers for various recreation programs for all ages, such as cooking, dance, badminton, basketball, floor hockey, soccer, arts, crafts, summer camps, and community special events.  

RATES OF PAY:            Recreation Worker 1:  $17.33 – $18.70 per hour

HOURS OF WORK:      Up to 35 hours per week (depending on assignments) 
                                      (Monday to Sunday; hours and days of work will vary including afternoons, evenings and weekends depending on programming and registration.) 

Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of benefits and paid annual vacation.

Applicants should have strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.  Experience in instructing, coaching, recreation, summer camps and completion of High Five training is desired.  Current Emergency First Aid certification will be an asset for these positions. Applications are invited for Engineering Workers for Temporary Full-Time and Casual assignments in the Engineering Operations Division of the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department.  The successful candidates will perform a variety of manual duties including water, sewer and storm installation, repair and maintenance.  Road construction and maintenance tasks and other physical duties may also be assigned. 

RATE OF PAY:              $29.08 per hour

HOURS OF WORK:     Temporary Full- Time hours are 40 hours per week 
                                     Casual hours are up to 40 hours per week 

Temporary Full Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid vacation and become eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.  Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of all benefits.   

The successful candidates will have Grade 12 plus experience in general construction and maintenance. A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License is required. Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Building Maintenance Supervisor to work in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department.  This is a supervisory janitorial and semi-skilled technical position that requires considerable independent judgment and action in supervising janitorial operations and in coordinating building and mechanical maintenance services at all buildings owned and operated by the City. The Building Maintenance Supervisor maintains and monitors computerized mechanical control systems, establishes and implements preventative maintenance programs, maintains computerized security access system, performs a variety of minor plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry maintenance and repairs, prepares operating budgets, and arranges and monitors contract services.  

RATE OF PAY:               Pay Grade 24:  $35.82 to $38.07 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK:     *35 hours per week 
                                     *Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; 4:00 p.m. to Midnight
                                     *Saturday and Sunday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The successful candidate will have Grade 12 supplemented by Building Services Worker Certification, Emergency First Aid Certification, WHIMIS training, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification, thorough knowledge of WorkSafeBC Regulations, a valid class 5 BC Drivers license, and a trade certification plus sound related experience in building maintenance operation including supervisory janitorial experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Applications are invited for Casual Clerk Typist 3’s for various Departments at Langley City such as Engineering, Development Services and Corporate Services.  Casual assignments provide coverage for vacation, illness and other absences.  It is anticipated that most assignments will be during the period May through September with limited assignments during the remainder of the year.  Duties include providing customer service to the public, community organizations and internal stakeholders.

RATE OF PAY:             Pay Grade 12:  $26.90 to $27.95 per hour
HOURS OF WORK:    *Up to 35 hours per week

HOURS OF WORK:     Temporary Full- Time hours are 40 hours per week 
                                     Casual hours are up to 40 hours per week
                                     (Primarily Monday to Friday, but some weekend shifts may be required)

Temporary Full-Time employees are paid 6% of their regular earnings in lieu of paid vacation and become eligible for benefits after 6 months of continuous employment.  Casual employees are paid 12.5% of their regular earnings in lieu of all benefits.   

The successful candidates will have Grade 12 plus experience in general construction and maintenance of parks and other landscape work.  B.C. Parks industry related training is desirable.  A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License is required. Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Parking Enforcement Officer in the Administration Department at Langley City.  Reporting to the Chief Bylaw Enforcement Officer, this position involves enforcing parking regulations under the City’s Traffic Regulation Bylaw and the Motor Vehicle Act. The successful Candidate will walk City streets and parking lots, in all weather conditions, chalking tires where parking signs designate time limits and on subsequent tours, ticketing offending vehicles.  

RATE OF PAY:             Pay Grade 15: $28.53 to $29.85 per hour 

HOURS OF WORK:   *40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) 
                                   *Hours of work per the Letter of Understanding
