YOUTH PROGRAMS UPDATE

The City of Langley will be running an Online Teen Time group during our closure! See the "Online Teen Time" tab below for more information. 

 

As per the March 16th Covid-19 update released by the City of Langley, Timms CommunityCenter will be closed until further notice starting at 4:30pm March 17th. As such all youth programs will not be running until further notice. Please check back for regular updates on youth programming.

 

LANGLEY YOUTH WEEK UPDATE

Due to concerns surrounding Covid-19 all youth week events and programs have been cancelled. 

 

Youth drop-in programs are open to all youth in grades 6-12.  No pre-registration necessary, just buy a Games & Track Pass for $10 and have unlimited access to our youth drop-in programs, the games room, and running track for a whole year! Drop-in and join the fun!

Some events and programs may require a special fee.

Games & Track Pass are valid for one year and may be purchased at Timms Community Centre Reception .

Attention H.D. Stafford Middle School Students! Come check out our FREE After 3 program that happens each week AT YOUR SCHOOL! We offer something for everyone -- games, sports, cooking, crafts, and sometimes, just getting crazy and noisy.

Starting Thursday January 16 2020! 

Thursday's (Please note that the program has changed from Wednesday's to Thursday's) 

3:00pm - 4:30pm @ HD Stafford Middle School in the Community Room (Room 134)
Open to all HDS students in grade 6-8.

Online Teen Time

Hang out like never before! The City of Langley is taking Teen Time Online! 

Log in every Tuesday and Thursday and join Langley youth workers in hanging out, playing online games, making art online and generally having fun while staying home! FREE for all youth! 

Tuesdays and Thursdays 
Starts April 7th 2020

To join Online Teen Time, follow these steps: 

1. Download the Zoom app or go online with your computer

2. Find us on instagram @langleycityyouth

3. Check instagram at 1:45pm for the meeting ID and password 

4. Enter the ID and join the meeting! 

 

Some ways to prepare for Online Teen Time are: 

1. create an account on https://www.pogo.com/games/monopolyclassic?sl=2&gamekey=monopolyclassic for online monopoly

2. Go to https://www.agame.com/ where we will be playing connect 4 and other games 

3. Download the Uno app and create an account to play with friends

4. Get a pen and paper for writing activities!

Cool off and escape the summer heat at Al Anderson Pool! Walk over with Timms staff and go for a swim, play some water games and have some fun!

Outsiders

Enjoy some fun in the sun! Meet up with Timms youth staff and head over to Douglas park to play various sports and games outside! Soccer, hockey, basketball, capture the flag and more are all part of the plan.

City Explorers

FREE Drop-In with a valid Games & Track Pass ($10.00/year)

 

If you have ever wondered what there is to do in Langley and how to get there, this is the program for you! City explorers will travel around Langley and explore its parks, activities, food and services! We will explore Langley's parks, attractions such as climbing and lazer tag, food on Fraser highway and youth services such as the Langley Youth Hub! You don't have to travel to have fun when you can do it in your own city!

Youth Adventure Club (YAC)

Time to get out of town and see the sights around the Lower Mainland. The Youth Adventure Club offers supervised low-cost outings for Youth to experience the outdoors in a safe, fun and social manner. All trips include the cost of supervision, equipment and transportation. Pick-up and Drop-off at Timms Community Centre. Please dress for the outdoors and activity, pack a lunch, snacks, water and sunscreen.

BABYSITTER TRAINING (12-17yrs)- COED

Developed by the Canadian Safety Council, this course teaches the most up to date information concerning childcare and safety.  Course content includes:  basic first-aid, emergency procedures, safety, nutrition and responsibilities.  Learn tons of fun games and activities making you the most popular babysitter on the block!  Price includes manual and certificate (upon completion of the program).

Teen Pump (13-16yrs)

Learn the safe and effective techniques in Weight Training for teens.  With proper guidance, youth will learn how to build strength, define their muscles and prevent injuries while using a variety of strength and cardio equipment.  Each participant will receive an individualized training plan based on their individual goals.  Youth who successfully complete the Teen Pump program will be permitted into the Timms Community Centre Weight Room without adult supervision.

HATHA YOGA-INTRO (14+yrs)

Hatha Yoga focuses on a healthy mind-body connection.  Learn how to control your breathing to improve oxygenation of the body and alleviate stress.  Practice various body positions (Asanas) designed to improve health and overall wellness. Introductory program is for beginners and anyone familiar with Yoga but enjoys the slower pace of an introductory class.
