Lawn Sprinkling Restrictions

Lawn Watering Restrictions Infograph

As of May 1, Stage 1 lawn sprinkling restrictions contained in the City of Langley's Drinking Water Conservation Plan Bylaw No. 3037 are in effect until October 15 every year. The regulations apply to all residents and businesses with connections to the municipal water system (excludes well water).

Lawn sprinkling will be restricted to two periods a week, mornings only. Lawns only require 2.5 cm (one inch) of water once a week to stay healthy. Outdoor sprinkling of lawns using a hose connected or automatic in-ground sprinklers will be permitted as follows:

Residential Addresses:

  • Even-numbered civic addresses: on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 4 am to 9 am
  • Odd-numbered civic addresses: on Thursdays and Sundays from 4 am to 9 am

Non-Residential Addresses:

  • Even-numbered addresses may sprinkle lawns on Monday between 1 am and 6 am, or Friday between 4 am and 9 am;
  • Odd-numbered addresses may sprinkle lawns on Tuesday between 1 am and 6 am, or Friday between 4 am and 9 am.

Please remember to set any irrigation controllers or timers appropriately.

Note that in cases of mixed zoning or mixed use, where commercial or industrial components are included on the same property along with residential, the designation shall then be classified as “Non-Residential.”
