As a centre for retail, commercial, and industrial activity, the City of Langley has become a workplace destination for residents all around the Fraser Valley and is in fact, a net importer of jobs. As such, the employment rate in the City of Langley is typically better than the rest of BC.

Income

The average household income in the City of Langley is $77,507 and varies by neighbourhood.  For example, the Douglas neighbourhood, with a high population of seniors and affordable multi-family residential complexes, has an average family income of $61,010.  While in neighbourhoods with single-family detached houses like the Uplands area, the average family income is $102,694, as compared to the average family income in Metro Vancouver at $99,723.

Taking this all into consideration, the average income in the City’s Primary Trade Area is about $95,000 and is higher than the BC average. (Retail Trade Area Study, 2012).
