Zoning Bylaw Update

Conceptual future Langley City core sketch.

Complete the online survey before December 5 and provide your input on key Zoning Bylaw topics!

Langley City is growing and SkyTrain will soon be arriving in our community. The City's new Official Community Plan (OCP) was adopted to prepare for SkyTrain and take advantage of this historic opportunity to shape new growth to ensure the City is a walkable, livable, and sustainable place for all those who live, work, and play here, and make sure we are creating a larger supply and diversity of homes to meet the City's growing and evolving housing needs.

To make this vision a reality, a new Zoning Bylaw is being created. This new bylaw will update the existing Zoning Bylaw that is over 25 years old, and build on the OCP's direction to set specific requirements on building design, land uses, and more.

The new Zoning Bylaw will be developed according to the following schedule, with multiple opportunities for input and comment from the public, including residents, business owners, and the development community:

The project is currently in Phase 1. Building on the conversations had with residents at the October 2023 Neighbourhood Meetings, additional public input opportunities as part of this phase will include an online survey in late November 2023 and a public open house in early 2024. Feedback received as part of these public engagement activities will be used to help develop the draft new Zoning Bylaw as part of Phase 2.

Please stay tuned to this page for more information on the upcoming online survey and open house, and sign up for the City's newsletter to receive the latest updates.
