Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Clerk Typist 3 in the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department.  The Clerk Typist 3 is responsible for clerical and public relations duties. The work, based at the Timms Community Centre, includes reception tasks and liaising with instructors, user groups, community organizations and the public.

RATE OF PAY:           Pay Grade 12: $26.90 to $27.95 per hour (2019 C.U.P.E. rates)

HOURS OF WORK:   35 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 1:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.)

The successful candidate will have Grade 12 and previous experience in the recreation field, with recreation programs, registration and software programs such as Microsoft Office and registration and facility booking software systems. This assignment is anticipated to begin September 2021 and end upon the return of the incumbent. The Clerk Typist 3 is responsible for clerical and public relations duties. Langley City is a progressive and well-led organization and has an attractive career position available for Recreation Supervisor (Clerical).

Reporting to the Director of Recreation, Culture and Community Services, the Recreation Supervisor (Clerical) is responsible for overseeing day-to-day administrative support services to the Recreation, Culture and Community Services Department and City Hall.   The successful candidate will organize and direct the administrative support team in providing efficient customer service to members of the public and staff and will exercise considerable independence of judgment and action.   Additionally the successful candidate will develop and administer processes and procedures that provide efficient administrative process and excellent customer service, will schedule, supervise and manage performance of Department administrative employees, will balance cash and cheque remittance, will assist Recreation Supervisors with the administration of collection of fees and expenditures, will participate in the hiring of new employees, conducting orientation and training of employees, will conduct employee disciplinary investigations and participate in grievance meetings and will design, prepare and produce the seasonal Recreation Guide and other similar publications.   

HOURS OF WORK: 
Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Completion of Grade 12 supplemented with business programs and/or other courses related to the work including Supervisory courses and considerable related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desired.  A valid Class 5 B.C. Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Supervisor – Plan Review to join the Development Services team. This position performs supervisory, regulatory, technical and enforcement work in directing the day-to-day operation of the plans review function of the Building Division. The work involves mentoring, planning, assigning, coordinating, supervising and reviewing the work of technical subordinates and providing technical advice or decisions on unusual and complex plan reviewing assignments. The position coordinates the work of the Section with other departmental activities, performing plan reviewing of the more complex construction projects regulated under Part 3 of the B.C. Building Code, and providing advice and assistance to a variety of internal and external contacts. The successful candidate will exercise considerable independence of judgment and action in the interpretation and enforcement of the bylaws and in the supervisory and technical aspects of the work, discussing unusual, controversial and policy matters with a superior who reviews performance in terms of adherence to department policy and accomplishment of objectives.

RATE OF PAY:           Pay Grade 29A:  $46.29 - $48.88 (2019 C.U.P.E. Rates)   

HOURS OF WORK:   35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The successful candidate will have Considerable knowledge of the B.C. Building Code related to all Levels of Buildings; Part 9 and Part 3 Buildings. Completion of a Diploma in Building Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution, supplemented by related courses, plus considerable related experience in the building, architectural, engineering field, or municipal field, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Building Officials Association of B.C. (BOABC) Level III Qualification, Registration as a Building Official and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License are also requirements of the position. This position reviews, processes and issues building permits applications and inspects building permits in accordance with Part 9 of the B.C. Building Code. The Building Official II – Plan Reviewer/Inspector also provides technical information and assistance to property owners, contractors, engineers, architects and other municipal staff on matters related to the work. Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised in the technical aspects of the work while unusual problems or policy matters are discussed with a superior.

RATE OF PAY:           Pay Grade 28:  $40.51 - $43.03 (2019 C.U.P.E. Rates)   

HOURS OF WORK:   35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Applications are invited for a Regular Full-Time position of Building Official I – Plan Reviewer/Inspector to join the Development Services team. This position examines and checks plans and permit applications relating to one and two family dwellings for compliance with the B.C. Building Code and applicable bylaws and City regulations, provides customer service on a wide range of topics in the construction and development industry and coordinates the processing of building permit applications through City departments. The Building Official I – Plan Reviewer/Inspector assists an Inspector on project sites as required and carries out field inspections when time permits.

RATE OF PAY:     Pay Grade 23:  $34.91 - $36.99 (2019 C.U.P.E. Rates)   

HOURS OF WORK:   35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
