    Hosted by: Langley City Arts, Recreation, Culture, and Heritage (ARCH) Committee, the Langley Arts Council, Langley Community Music School, and the Langley City Recreation, Culture & Community Services Department.

    The second annual Langley City Film Festival featuring two themes: The Emotion of Sound and The Natural Environment. All films shown in the festival have been created between May 1, 2023 to May 1, 2025 by film makers who reside in British Columbia.

    The films have been reviewed and selected by the a panel of three jurors; read below to learn more about them.

    Bailey Stead
    Bailey Stead is the Senior Manager and Team Lead of Video Production at Air Canada, bringing over 15 years of experience across film, television, social media, and brand marketing. She is known for her expertise in advanced interviewing—connecting authentically, earning trust, and crafting stories that resonate on a deep emotional level.

    A passionate, people-first leader, Bailey is driven by creativity, empathy, and a genuine commitment to nurturing growth in others. Her work has earned multiple Canadian Screen Award nominations, as well as a Platinum Award from the Houston International Film Festival. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Bailey is preparing to embrace her most exciting role yet: becoming a mom.

    Ryan Tebbutt
    Ryan Tebbutt is an award-winning filmmaker with a career spanning documentaries, television, feature films, and commercials. As the founder of Edge Digital Media Inc. (est. 2012) and Orchard Drive Entertainment, Ryan has produced, directed, shot, and edited numerous acclaimed documentaries — each driven by his passion for creating impactful stories. In 2024, Ryan was nominated for “Best Direction: Feature Documentary” by The Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Foundation of British Columbia."

    Carlo Ghioni
    Carlo Ghioni is an Italian-born cine-maker, animator, and educator whose work bridges the cultural spaces between Europe and North America. Now based in Vancouver after 15 years in Montreal, he has directed and produced award-winning films, documentaries, and animated shorts for CBC, RAI, Arte, France3,Discovery, and SKY. Ghioni’s recent work explores the intersection of stop-motion, marionette theatre, and VR storytelling. His projects—funded by the Canada Council, Telefilm, BC Arts Council, and the Venice Biennale—reveal a deeply humanist and multidisciplinary approach to visual narrative.

    Child (under 14) = $5
    Youth (15-18 years) = $5
    Adult (19 years and over) = $15 per

    Film Submission Criteria

    Two themes for the festival: The Emotion of Sound and The Natural Environment

    Film Submission Criteria
    • Youth (18 years and under): 30 seconds to 5 minutes
    • Adult (19 years and older): 2 minutes to 20 minutes
    • All films must be created between May 1, 2023 to May 1, 2025
    • Open to all film makers who reside in British Columbia
    • No funding restrictions for films

    Prizes for Film Awards

    • $1000 - Best Film Overall (All Ages)
    • $750 - Winner: Adult - The Emotion of Sound
    • $750 - Winner: Adult - The Natural Environment
    • $500 - Winner: Youth - The Emotion of Sound
    • $500 - Winner: Youth - The Natural Environment
