Community Safety Team (formerly Bylaw Enforcement)
Langley City’s Community Safety team helps keep our community safe, respectful and welcoming by responding to concerns, supporting voluntary compliance and enforcing City bylaws when needed.
Community Safety Officers (formerly Bylaw Enforcement Officers) work with residents, businesses and community partners to resolve issues, share information and connect people directly with the right services when extra support is needed.
A new approach to community safety
Learn how the City is creating a coordinated one-stop approach for neighbourhood questions and transitioning to Community Safety Officers based on the Citizens’ Assembly recommendations.
A screening officer will review the information from both you and the officer who issued the ticket. They may contact you if they need more details.
The screening officer will make one of two decisions:
Ticket Cancelled: You do not need to take any further action.
Ticket Upheld: You must either pay the fine or choose to move forward to an adjudication hearing.
Note: Once a hearing is scheduled, the only way to cancel the dispute is to pay the ticket fine before the hearing date. You will receive your hearing details in the mail, with options to attend in person, by phone, or in writing.
Step 2: Adjudication Hearing
At the hearing, an independent adjudicator reviews the evidence from both sides and decides the outcome:
Offence Upheld: You must pay the original ticket amount plus a $25 administrative fee.
Offence Not Proven: The ticket is cancelled.

Requests for cruelty investigations can be made by contacting the SPCA.
