At this fall's local government election, eligible Langley City voters will have the opportunity to participate in a separate non-binding Community Opinion Vote on whether the City should continue planning for two proposed facility expansions of:
- Al Anderson Memorial Pool to provide year-round access
- Timms Community Centre combined with a new Performing Arts and Cultural Centre

Community Opinion Vote
Langley City is holding a Community Opinion Vote during the 2026 Local Government Election to gather feedback on proposed facility expansion projects.
The vote is voluntary and non-binding, meaning participation is optional, and the results will be used to help the incoming Council understand community views before making decisions about whether to continue planning the proposed projects.
Unlike a referendum, the Community Opinion Vote is non-binding, meaning it does not determine an outcome or require Council to take a specific action.
After further planning, if a future Council decides to move forward with one or both proposed projects and borrowing is required, a separate binding approval process would be required before the project(s) could proceed. This approval would be obtained through either an Alternative Approval Process (AAP) or a referendum.
