Al Anderson Pool Opens Early, Expands Spring Swim Season

Date

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Langley City, B.C. Splash alert, Langley City! Al Anderson Memorial Pool is opening early this year, with the season officially starting April 13. Opening the pool one month early supports the City’s goal of keeping our community safe by giving residents more access to supervised, skill‑building swim programs.

“Outdoor recreation plays an important role in supporting health and community well‑being,” says Kim Hilton, Director of Recreation, Culture and Community Services. “Opening the pool early gives families more time to learn essential water‑safety skills and helps residents build confidence in the water before summer."

Beginning April 13, the pool will be heated and open seven days a week, offering more opportunities for leisure swims, fitness, and family time.

Spring Swim Lesson Registration Opens March 4

Along with the early opening, spring swimming lessons will also begin earlier this year, with registration starting March 4 at 9:00 am to meet community demand.  Families are encouraged to update their recreation account prerequisites early to make registration day quick and easy. This can be done in person at Timms Community Centre, or by emailing recreation@langleycity.ca

Additional spring lessons will help children gain essential skills ahead of summer and support the City’s commitment to offering accessible, confidence‑building recreation programs families rely on.
