For Immediate Release
Langley City, B.C. – In response to the October pilot program data and community feedback, Langley City is extending its extra yard waste collection pilot program until November 30, 2025.
The pilot program supports residents in single-family homes and non-strata townhomes during the rollout of the new automated waste collection system. It allows residents to place additional seasonal yard waste in paper yard waste bags for pick-up on their scheduled collection day.
“Langley City is extending the extra yard waste collection pilot program, staying flexible and responsive to our community’s needs,” said David Pollock, Director of Engineering, Parks and Environment. “Although we're extending the pilot, the goal is to reduce waste and yard waste for greener, cleaner solutions."
After the pilot concludes, City staff will continue to look at data and feedback to develop recommendations for City Council regarding future yard waste collection options.
Key Details:
- Extended duration: Now until November 30, 2025
- What’s accepted: Extra yard waste such as leaves, grass clippings, plant trimmings, and branches in paper yard waste bags only
- No registration required: Place yard waste bags curbside by 7:30 AM on your scheduled collection day
