We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Support Specialist to join our Information Technology Division, part of the Financial Services Department, and support the delivery of new and innovative technology across the City. Reporting to the Manager of Information Services, the IT Support Specialist will maintain and enhance the performance of the City’s IT service desk and will be responsible for the deployment of computer hardware and software, application system configurations,  maintenance of security standards on computer systems , coordinating with vendors on  software and hardware maintenance, technical support for key computer applications including M365 Applications, production deployments, and support of business processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service skills while working closely with vendors, internal City departments, and technical staff on issues involving Windows operating systems, patch management, business continuity requirements, network connectivity, system security and other activities necessary to maintain and enhance IT service delivery.

The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge in the following: 
•    Microsoft M365 Applications and Services, VoIP phone systems, Virtual meeting software and Document Management Systems.
•    Microsoft Windows Workstation and Server Environments, Backup and Storage systems, Hyper-V virtual machines and SaaS environments.
•    Principles, methods and practices used in the installation and operation of computer hardware, network systems, software and operating systems. 
•    Practices and procedures used in the identification and resolution of hardware and software issues in operating systems, and communication devices. 
•    System analysis and troubleshooting techniques along with the methods and principles used in training users on hardware and software applications.
•    Information technology best practices and organizational policies.
•    Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Sentinel, M365 services such as Intune, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.

RATE OF PAY:        Pay Grade 22 - $39.55 to $41.72 per hour (2024 CUPE rates) and a                                                          comprehensive benefits package is included.

HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Completion of a technical diploma in Computing and Information Technology plus two years related experience or Grade 12 supplemented by relevant courses in computer systems and applications; or an equivalent combination of training, certifications and experience is desired. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is required.
