Welcome to AccessAbility Week!
Drop-in and participate in one of the FREE try-it sports scheduled in the gymnasium at Timms Community Centre during AccessAbility week! Open to all members of the community with diverse needs.

Monday June 1: Wheelchair Pickleball
5:30pm-7:45pm (East Gym TCC). Drop-In. Pickleball can be played in a wheelchair, with others in wheelchairs or mixed with standing players. Presented in partnership with Fraser Valley Wheelchair Sports Club and Spinal Cord Injury BC.

Wednesday June 3: Red Shirt Day
Wear red, make a pledge, and support Canadians living with disabilities. Red Shirt Day® is an annual event in celebration of National AccessAbility Week. It is a day when people across Canada come together and wear red in schools, and workplaces.

Thursday June 4: Open Gym
12:00pm-3:00pm (West Gym TCC). Drop-In. Try a variety of adapted sports in a fun, supportive environment. Presented in partnership with Inclusion Langley.

Thursday June 4: Active Start & FUNdamentals
1:00pm-2:30pm (East Gym TCC). Drop-In. Presented in partnership with Special Olympics, Active Start and FUNdamentals are for children with intellectual disabilities. Both programs set the foundation for sport participation and life-long physical activity.

Thursday June 4: Let's Play Program (Wheelchair Sports)
5:30pm-7:45pm (West Gym TCC). Drop-In. Presented in partnership with BC Wheelchair Basketball Society, kids with physical disabilities can try games and activities that teach fundamental movement skills and wheelchair sport skills.

Thursday June 4: Boccia
5:30pm-7:45pm (East Gym TCC). Drop-In. In partnership with SportAbility BC, Boccia is a very adaptable sport for people with a variety of disabilities. Give it a try!

Saturday June 6: Mayday Club Youth Choir Performance
11:00am (Lobby, TCC). Mayday Club is a grassroots, neurodiverent youth-led initiative based in Abbotsford, BC.

Saturday June 6: One Day Arts
4:00pm-4:45pm (TCC). Drop-In. Explore a nature-themed art activity using found natural materials and everyday treasures. The program is guided by an experienced art educator and practicing artist.
New! Sensory Kits available at Timms Community Centre
The City of Langley has introduced sensory friendly spaces at our signature events and is now introducing sensory kits in all our facilities, which are available for families to borrow while in our facility, or taking part in one of our activities. The sensory kits, which are stored in a drawstring backpack, contain sensory toys, noise cancelling headphones, and sunglasses.
The kits are appropriate for ages 3 and up and can be borrowed from the customer service desk at any of our recreation facilities.
