FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Langley City, B.C. – Langley City invites residents to its first-ever Social Streets event at Linwood Park on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. This free, family-friendly neighbourhood event is all about connecting with neighbours, enjoying music and food, and exploring how we can make our streets safer and more vibrant.
What to Expect:
- Sidewalk chalk art and games – Fun for all ages
- Community picnic – Bring a blanket and food to enjoy together
- Safety resources – Learn how to keep stay safe in an emergency
- Healthy food demonstrations – Discover fresh, easy snack ideas
- Meet your neighbours – Build connections in your community
- Help design future events – Share your ideas and feedback
“Strong communities are formed when neighbours get to know each other. Our Social Street program helps create casual opportunities to connect,” said Mayor Nathan Pachal. “I look forward to this first event and the feedback from the community for future events.”
Inspired by successful programs like Bogotá’s Ciclovía and San Francisco’s Sunday Streets, Social Streets aims to transform public spaces into safe and vibrant community hubs. While this first event takes place in a park, future events may move to car-free streets.
The event will also kick off community workshops where residents can help plan future Social Streets events in their neighbourhoods.
