Downtown Langley Fall Street Banners Announced

Date

For Immediate Release

Langley City, BC - The City rotates street banners every spring, summer, and fall to enhance the look and feel of the community and charm of downtown Langley. Earlier in the year, the City issued a Call to Artists, asking emerging and established artists to submit two pieces of complementary artwork to be used as templates for the downtown Langley fall street banners. Each of the two banners must be inspired by the local community and show relevance to the character and charm of the City of Langley and the work that the City is doing to support active, healthy lifestyles through arts, culture, and recreation.

The City of Langley is pleased to announce that KPU, Wilson School of Design, 2022 Graduate Kurtis Stevenson, was awarded a $500 honorarium for each banner (right and left). Each design will be replicated onto banners 32 inches (wide) by 60 inches (length/height) and will be displayed across downtown Langley this year from September to November 2023.

"I am honoured to have been chosen, and I'm excited to share with my local community what diversity and inclusivity mean to me. The biggest challenge was incorporating diversity in both people and activities, all intertwined within the fabric of our community. My goal was to capture a sense of togetherness through a medley of activities, glasses clinking, food sharing, and gleaming smiles. And that's exactly what I have conveyed!" said Kurtis Stevenson.
