Langley City Adds New 100-foot Platform Fire Truck to Strengthen Emergency Response and Community Safety

Fire Truck Tower-1

Langley City, B.C. — Since 2022, Langley City has invested more than $6.1 million in community safety by hiring nine additional firefighters and upgrading modern firefighting and rescue equipment. With the arrival of a new 100-foot Platform truck, Langley City Fire Rescue Service has now completed three-truck purchase that strengthens emergency response for residents and businesses across the city.

Tower-1 gives firefighters greater reach and safer access when responding to emergencies, especially in multi-storey buildings. It helps crews carry out rescues and firefighting operations more safely and effectively as the city continues to grow.

“We’re investing in the safety of our community and our firefighters,” said Mayor Nathan Pachal. “As Langley City grows and buildings get taller, we need modern equipment that helps our firefighters respond safely and confidently.”

What Tower-1 means for residents:
  • Faster and safer access to higher floors during rescues and fires
  • Improved safety and visibility working at emergency scenes
  • Greater capacity for larger, more complex incidents
  • Readiness for growth as new housing and taller buildings are added

Over the past several years, Langley City Fire Rescue Service has invested in two frontline trucks, Engine-1 and Squad-1, to strengthen day-to-day response. Tower-1 completes this fleet refresh.

“Tower-1 strengthens how we support Langley City during larger, more complex incidents,” said Fire Chief Scott Kennedy. “It expands our operational capability across a full spectrum of calls, including high-angle rescue and multi-storey firefighting to help our crews work safely and effectively in demanding environments.”

Together, these investments support safer operations so residents can count on a modern fire service in a growing city.
