Langley City, B.C. – The City is launching the final phase of a pilot program to collect extra yard waste. The program will run from October 19 to November 27, 2026, to help residents manage seasonal yard cleanup. Langley City homes, such as single-family and non-strata townhomes, receiving City organic collection service may place extra paper yard waste bags beside their organics cart on their regular collection day.
"During the first two pilot phases in 2025, we found that many of the bags contained materials that weren’t yard waste." said Rachel Ollenberger, Manager of Engineering Services. "In this final phase, we’re focusing on helping residents understand what belongs in the bags so we can get a clearer picture of how the service is being used. The results will help us better assess future service needs, and make informed recommendations to council on how to proceed."

- Duration: October 19 to November 27, 2026
- What’s accepted: Extra yard waste such as grass, leaves, and branch clippings in paper yard waste bags.
- What’s not accepted in extra yard waste bags: stumps, sod, soil, plastic bags, and regular organics waste such as food waste
- Paper bag weight limit: Each bag must weigh under 20 kg (44 lbs)
- No registration or stickers required: Place paper yard bags next to your organics cart by 7:30AM (no limit to bags at this time).
- Pickup date: Same day as your regular collection date as shown in your Collection Guide.
Residents are reminded to use paper yard waste bags only and to ensure items are placed curbside by 7:30 AM on their collection day.
