Langley City Fire Rescue Service hosts open house to connect with community and provide fire safety education

Date

Langley City, B.C. – The Langley City Fire Rescue Service is excited to welcome the community to its upcoming Open House on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Langley City Fire Hall, 5785 203 Street.

The City places a high priority on community safety, actively engaging residents through fire safety initiatives and public education efforts to ensure a fire-safe environment for all. This family-friendly event aims to raise awareness about the critical importance of having a working smoke alarm in every home. The Fire Prevention message is: “Smoke Alarms Save Lives.”

“Safety begins at home, and functioning smoke alarms are essential as the first line of defense,” says Deputy Fire Chief Ron Hull. “Our open house offers a great opportunity for families to come and learn about fire prevention and how to better prepare in case of an emergency. We’re proud to support a safer Langley City, one household at a time.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet local firefighters and take photos with Sparky the Fire Dog, the beloved fire safety mascot. The open house will share smoke alarm and kitchen safety information and resources to help keep families safe.

The fire hall is fully accessible with no stairs, making it easy for all members of the community to attend. Parking is limited, so attendees are encouraged to use alternative modes of transportation such as walking, cycling, taking transit, using a taxi or ride-sharing service.
