Langley City Invites Community Input on the Future of Aquatics

For Immediate Release

Langley City, B.C. – Langley City is inviting residents to help shape the future of aquatic recreation in the community. A feasibility study is underway to explore options for either expanding the existing Al Anderson Memorial Pool or building a new indoor aquatic facility.

Langley City’s population is expected to grow significantly over the next 25 years. Planning for this growth includes evaluating whether additional aquatic facilities may be needed to serve residents year-round and what those facilities could look like.

“As our community grows, we want to make sure our recreation spaces grow with it,” said Mayor Nathan Pachal. “This is about listening to residents and considering the kinds of programs and facilities that reflects their needs, values, and vision for the future.”

The study will look at potential program offerings, facility size and location, and cost estimates, with public input guiding the process. Additional engagement is planned for spring 2026 to gather feedback on draft concepts and associated costs. Aquatic centres play an important role in supporting recreation, health, and community connection, from swimming lessons and fitness classes to therapeutic programs and family fun.
