Langley City Launches Extra Yard Waste Pickup Pilot for October

Date

For Immediate Release

Langley City, B.C. – As Langley City navigates the rollout of the new automated waste collection program, and in response to resident requests and community feedback, the City is launching a pilot program to support extra yard waste collection from October 6 to October 31, 2025.

Due to supply chain challenges, requested additional or upsized green bins will not be available until mid-November. To help residents manage their yard waste during this period, the City will provide additional organics waste pickup and will accept extra paper bags with yard waste placed alongside existing organics bins.

“This pilot is a proactive step to support residents during the fall cleanup season,” said Rachel Ollenberger, Manager of Engineering Services. “We’re working closely with our waste collection contractor, Emterra to ensure that service remains responsive and flexible during the fall season.”

The pilot program was developed in collaboration with Emterra and Langley City following discussions about fall collection and anticipated resident needs. It reflects Langley City's commitment to responsive service delivery and transparent communication.
