Langley City Remembrance Day Ceremony – Honouring Service and Sacrifice

Date

For Immediate Release

Langley City invites residents and visitors to gather at Douglas Park Cenotaph on Tuesday, November 11, for the annual Remembrance Day ceremony. Together, we will observe a moment of silence at the eleventh hour to honour all who have served and sacrificed for our country.

A Tradition of Remembrance

Each year, Canadians unite on Remembrance Day to pay tribute to veterans, military members, and those who gave their lives in service. The ceremony at Douglas Park is a longstanding tradition in Langley City, bringing together people of all ages to reflect on the courage, resilience, and legacy of those who have defended our freedoms.

“Our city’s strength comes from our people, those who serve, those who remember, and those who support one another. It is also a time for us to reflect on the meaning of peace,” said Mayor Nathan Pachal. Local dignitaries, representatives from the RCMP and Fire Rescue, community groups, and residents will participate in the ceremony. All members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Honouring Langley City’s History

Langley City’s Remembrance Day ceremony is rooted in the community’s deep respect for its veterans and military families. From the stories of local aviators and Indigenous veterans to the personal tributes laid at the cenotaph, the event reflects Langley City’s commitment to remembering its history and those who shaped it.
