Langley City, B.C., - Langley City is inviting residents to review draft questions for a potential non-binding vote on two proposed community facility projects through Invest Langley City. The questions could appear on a separate ballot during the October 17 municipal election.
“Residents should have a meaningful role in shaping the future of community spaces in Langley City,” said Mayor Nathan Pachal. “This phase is about making sure people feel informed and ready to make a thoughtful decision this fall.”
The projects under consideration are:
• An expanded Al Anderson Memorial Pool (allowing for year-round operations)
• An expanded Timms Community Centre (with a new Performing Arts and Cultural Centre)
This engagement phase focuses on the wording of the draft questions that could appear on the ballot.
Residents can share feedback in several ways:
• In person at pop-up engagement events this June:
○ Community Day, Douglas Park (June 13, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
○ Sounds of Summer, Douglas Park Spirit Square (June 17, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.)
○ Social Streets, Linwood Park (June 26, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
• Online to test the draft questions and complete the survey until June 26 at letschat.langleycity.ca/invest.
Feedback from this phase will help refine the questions before Langley City voters may be asked on October 17 whether planning should move ahead for one or both projects.
