Langley City's Choose to Move Program Returns, Empowering Older Adults to Embrace an Active Lifestyle

Langley City, BC – Teaming up with the BC Recreation & Parks Association and the University of British Columbia’s Centre for Hip Health and Mobility, the City of Langley proudly announces the return of its Choose to Move Program. The program will run from January 27 through April 23, 2024, following the previously well-attended program in September 2023 – once again hosted at the Timms Community Centre.

"Maintaining an active lifestyle significantly contributes to overall well-being," remarked Christine Daum, Langley City's Recreation Supervisor. "Through this program, we aim to empower participants to feel better, enhance their strength, and preserve their independence."

Choose to Move is an individually tailored three-month program specifically designed to seamlessly integrate physical activity into the lives of older adults. The program prioritizes individual needs, interests, goals, and abilities, offering a personalized approach to support participants in their journey toward a healthier lifestyle. It encompasses a comprehensive support system that includes:

  • Personalized one-on-one consultations
  • Engaging motivational group meetings held at Timms Community Centre
  • Regular check-ins with an assigned activity coach

Individuals interested in joining the program are required to register and attend the free information session, which details program specifics and benefits.
