Langley City, B.C. – Thousands of residents gathered at Douglas Park on June 13 for Langley City’s 2026 Community Day, a free annual event focused on community connection, local engagement, and accessible family programming.

The event featured live entertainment, interactive community booths, and a range of activities designed to bring residents together and highlight local programs and services, including a Langley Christmas Village booth that introduced attendees to the new winter event coming to Langley City later this year.

“Community Day creates space for residents to connect, with each other and with the people and organizations that support the community,” said Mayor Nathan Pachal. “That focus on connection is something we are continuing to build on through events and initiatives year-round.”

Event highlights

• Live entertainment throughout the day
• Interactive booths featuring local organizations, services, and programs
• Family activities, including inflatables, the firefighter kids challenge, and the returning zipline
• Food vendors and gathering spaces across Douglas Park

Community Day was designed as a flexible, drop-in event. A free bike valet supported active transportation, while waste stations for recycling and organics aligned with the City’s zero waste goals.

Looking ahead: Langley Christmas Village

Building on the success of Community Day, Langley City is continuing to support community connection and downtown vibrancy through the introduction of a new winter event.

Later this year, the City will welcome Langley Christmas Village, a sister market to the well-established Shipyards Christmas Market currently held in North Vancouver, hosted by Parfait Productions Inc.

The market will feature more than 100 vendor stalls, including rotating opportunities for smaller businesses, as well as free entry, daily entertainment, and family-friendly programming.

“From our very first conversations with the City of Langley, it was clear that there was a shared vision to create something special for the community,” said John van Rij, Founder, Parfait Productions Inc. “Langley Christmas Village is being built as a free, family-friendly holiday experience that brings people together, supports local entrepreneurs, and celebrates the spirit of the season.

Our team has seen firsthand how a Christmas market can become much more than a shopping destination. It can become a place where families create traditions, friends reconnect, local businesses thrive, and communities come together. That is the experience we are excited to bring to Langley City.

We are grateful for the City's partnership and enthusiasm, and we look forward to welcoming residents and visitors from across the region to experience the sights, sounds, flavours, and magic of Langley Christmas Village for many years to come.”

This initiative supports local economic activity by increasing foot traffic in the downtown, creating opportunities for small businesses, and extending seasonal activation into the winter months. It also advances the City’s goal of providing accessible events and activating public spaces throughout the year.

The market will run from late November through December 24, with additional details to be announced. For more information, visit Langley Christmas Village.
