FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[April 30, 2024] Langley City, B.C. — As part of ongoing efforts to conserve water and manage the region's water supply, Metro Vancouver has implemented seasonal lawn watering restrictions starting Wednesday, May 1. Langley City residences and businesses will be limited to watering their lawns one morning per week during Stage 1 restrictions, with designated days determined by property address and type.
“With snowpack levels at an all time low and a forecast that calls for a warmer, drier spring and summer” Kyle Simpson, Manager of Engineering and Parks Operation stated, “The water used for lawn watering undergoes the same treatment as our drinking water. We urge our residents and businesses to help conserve our drinking water”.
Edible plants are exempt from the restrictions. Lawn watering restrictions will remain in place until October 15. Should lawn watering restrictions change, a notice will be provided on the City’s website here.
STAGE 1 RESIDENTIAL LAWN WATERING ALLOWED:
- Even-numbered addresses: Saturdays — automatic watering between 5:00 am and 7:00 am, and manual watering between 6:00 am and 9:00 am
- Odd-numbered addresses: Sundays — automatic watering between 5:00 am and 7:00 am, and manual watering between 6:00 am and 9:00 am
- Trees, shrubs, and flowers can be watered with a sprinkler any day between 5:00 am and 9:00 am, or any time by hand or using drip irrigation
STAGE 1 NON-RESIDENTIAL LAWN WATERING ALLOWED:
- Even-numbered addresses: Mondays — automatic watering between 4:00 am and 6:00 am, and manual watering between 6:00 am and 9:00 am
- Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesdays — automatic watering between 4:00 am and 6:00 am, and manual watering between 6:00 am and 9:00 am
- Trees, shrubs, and flowers can be watered with a sprinkler any day between 4:00 am and 9:00 am, or any time by hand or using drip irrigation
These restrictions do not apply to the use of rainwater, grey water, recycled water, or other non-drinking water sources.
