Langley City, B.C. – Langley City will officially launch its new Resilient Neighbourhood Networks (RNNs) initiative on June 26 at a Social Streets event in Linwood Park, where it will also announce the first one or two neighbourhoods selected for the pilot.

Resilient Neighbourhood Networks help neighbours connect, share information, and support one another, making communities safer, more welcoming, and better supported.

The selected neighbourhoods will be the first to take part in the pilot, building stronger local connections, sharing practical safety and preparedness information, and supporting one another through community-led activities. They were chosen through a neighbourhood vote that closes on June 16, 2026.

Introducing Resilient Neighbourhood Networks at Linwood Park

Resilient Neighbourhood Networks bring together residents, local organizations, businesses, and services to strengthen relationships and make it easier to find information and supports close to home. The June 26 launch event will introduce the initiative and give residents a chance to learn how they can get involved.

Community members who want to get involved are welcome to volunteer and sign up through the city’s online engagement tool, Let’s Chat Langley City

“This initiative is about building connections with neighbours while learning vital skills to support each other every day and in emergencies,” said Jenn Clamato, Citizens’ Assembly member.

“What stood out to me was how much people value connection, trust, and a sense of belonging in their community,” said Adam Larsen, Citizens’ Assembly member. “It was inspiring to be part of a group of people from very different backgrounds and lived experiences coming together and working toward common goals for Langley City.”

The event will run from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will include family-friendly activities and opportunities to connect with local organizations. Remarks and announcements, including the pilot neighbourhoods, will take place at 6:00 p.m., followed by Movie Night in the Park at 9:15 p.m., weather dependent.

Creating a more welcoming gathering space

The event will also highlight newly installed shade sails at Linwood Park beside the playground, adding shade to a high-use area where families and caregivers gather.
