Deadline: October 29, 2026, 3:30 pm.
Langley City is inviting emerging and established artists, designers, and creatives from the Lower Mainland, including individuals and collectives, to submit original artwork for the Fall Street Banner Program.
Through this program, selected artwork will be transformed into street banners displayed throughout downtown Langley City, creating a vibrant and welcoming public art experience for residents, visitors, and the broader community.
The Fall Street Banner Program is part of Langley City’s commitment to enhancing public spaces, supporting local artists, and celebrating the creativity and cultural identity of the community through public art.
This program provides artists with an opportunity for artists to contribute to the visual identity of Langley City by creating artwork inspired by the people, places, nature, culture, and community spirit that make the city unique.
Langley City is seeking two complementary banner designs that celebrate the fall season and reflect the creativity, diversity, and character of the community. Artwork may explore themes of connection, belonging, local stories, landscapes, arts, culture, recreation, and shared experiences.
Submissions will be reviewed by a selection panel consisting of Langley City representatives and members of the local arts community. Artwork will be evaluated based on creativity, artistic quality, connection to the community, suitability for a public space, and how effectively the design translates to a large-scale street banner format.
Selected artwork will be displayed on street banners throughout downtown Langley City during the fall season for several years, beginning in Fall 2027. Designs should be:
- bold
- visually engaging
- suitable for a public and family-friendly environment
- and effective when viewed from a distance.
The selected artist will receive an honorarium of $1,000 for the completed banner design package (left and right banner pair). Fabrication, printing, and installation costs will be covered by Langley City.
The Fall Street Banner Program is open to artists, designers, and creatives aged 18 and older working in a variety of mediums, including illustration, painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, and digital art. Artists of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels are encouraged to apply.
Langley City welcomes submissions from diverse creative voices, including artists from communities that are underrepresented in the arts.
