LANGLEY CITY, B.C. — Douglas Park, a bustling hub in Langley City will soon see more colour, creativity, and community spirit splashed in the park. The mural is anticipated to be completed in June 2027 and will wrap around the recently completed washroom facility, bringing more colour and creativity to Douglas Park. As the City’s largest mural commissioned to date, it will celebrate the park as a place where the community connects and takes part in programs and events.
“Douglas Park is where our community comes together to play, celebrate, connect, and create memories,” said Kim Hilton, Director of Recreation, Culture and Community Services. “Creating this mural is an opportunity to reflect the energy of the park that makes Douglas Park such an important community gathering place and will create a welcoming piece of public art that residents and visitors can enjoy.”
Artist applications now open
Langley City is seeking diverse Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland individual artists or a group of artists (minimum two artists) to create a mural that reflects the vibrancy and diversity of Douglas Park.
The selected artist or artists will receive an honorarium of up to $12,000, with $4,000 provided at the start of the project and the remaining payment provided upon completion of the mural, to support the design, creation, and installation of the artwork.
The deadline to submit artwork is December 10, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
