Langley City launches external review to strengthen services and support future growth

Date

With SkyTrain on the horizon and Langley City continuing to grow, the City is taking proactive steps to ensure it is well positioned to support the needs of an evolving community.

Through a competitive Request for Proposals process, the City has selected MNP LLP to undertake an external effectiveness and efficiency review. The review will examine services, processes, and ways of working to identify opportunities to strengthen coordination, reduce bottlenecks, improve service delivery, and leverage technology to make the best use of available resources.

For residents, this means ensuring responsive services, effective use of taxpayer dollars, clear accountability, and effective long-term planning for a growing community.

“As Langley City grows and evolves, it is important that we continue looking for ways to strengthen how we serve our community,” said CAO Francis Cheung. “This external review will provide an independent perspective on how we can improve processes, better support our employees, and continue delivering high quality services for the citizens of Langley City.”

The consultant-led review will provide an evidence-based assessment and practical recommendations in areas such as service delivery, workflow efficiency, resource allocation, governance, and the use of technology and data to support staff, inform Council decision-making, and strengthen long-term planning. Cheung noted that MNP has extensive experience conducting similar reviews for municipalities across British Columbia and will provide practical recommendations aligned with the City’s goals and priorities.

The final report is expected to be presented to Council in fall 2026.
