Extra yard waste collected from October 6 to October 31, 2025
As part of a pilot program, single-family homes and non-strata townhomes will receive extra yard waste collection from October 6 to October 31, 2025, on the same day of their regular collection days for:
- Leaves
- Grass clippings
- Plant trimmings
- Branches
How to participate:
Place your extra yard waste in a paper yard waste bag(s) next to your organics bin on your regular collection day. No registration or stickers are needed.

What goes in the organics bin?
Items in your Organics Bin should be wrapped only in paper bags or newspaper. Plastic and compostable plastic bags are not accepted. If any plastic bags are present, your bin cannot be emptied until the plastic bags are removed.
How to use the bins
- Place bins at the curb by 7:30 AM weekly.
- Bins should be placed with the wheels towards your house and with the lid opening towards the street.
- Leave at least 1 metre (3 feet) of space between each bin and any obstacles such as other bins, parked cars, poles, fences, or mailboxes.
- Ensure the lid is fully closed, overfilled bins may not be collected.
- Do not block sidewalks or driveways.
- Store the bins within your property boundary -- in your garage, backyard, side of your home or front yard. Do not store them on the road or sidewalk.
