Toss your food scraps, garden clippings, and used paper into the organics. New to composting? It’s easier than you think!
Extra yard waste collection from April 13 to May 22, 2026
Residents in single-family or non-strata receiving City organics service can place extra yard waste in paper bags next to their organics bin on their regular collection day for pickup.
How to use the cart
- Place carts at the curb by 7:30 AM weekly.
- Carts should be placed with the wheels towards your house and with the lid opening towards the street.
- Leave at least 1 metre (3 feet) of space between each cart and any obstacles such as other carts, parked cars, poles, fences, or mailboxes.
- Ensure the lid is fully closed; overfilled carts may not be collected.
- Do not block sidewalks or driveways.
- Store the carts within your property boundary — in your garage, backyard, side of your home or front yard. Do not store them on the road or sidewalk.
What goes in the organics cart?
Items in your organics cart should be wrapped only in paper bags or newspaper. Plastic and compostable plastic bags are not accepted. If any plastic bags are present, your cart cannot be emptied until they are removed.
